ASPEN E-Citation
A Complete Electronic Citation Solution
Traditionally, citations created by officers have been handwritten. Not only is this process time consuming, but officers run the risk of recording information that is incorrect, illegible or even missing. DataWorks Plus’ E-Citation allows officers to enter citation data electronically, thereby providing a faster and more efficient way to fill out citation forms. Citations created with DataWorks Plus’ E-Citation will have a uniform presentation and field validation protocols will walk the officer through every piece of required data. This ensures that all citations meet agency and state requirements.
DataWorks Plus’ Electronic Citation Software (E-Citation) gives patrol officers a secure, reliable, and fast way to issue and submit electronic citations. By using a wireless mobile device, MDT, or laptop, an officer can quickly enter all necessary information regarding an individual to a customized template that matches state, agency, and court standards and requirements. Data fields can be auto-populated in under a second by simply scanning an individual’s driver’s license or registration. Currently, the system is compatible with 2D barcodes and has been configured for use in several states. The officer then selects the violations, which can be chosen from a customizable list. The citation can be signed electronically if permitted by your agency and state regulations. Once the citation is complete it can be printed for the offender using a small mobile printer. The citation is then submitted electronically to the officer’s agency. This technology has proven to be especially useful for mobile applications, such as traffic stops, large concerts, festivals and other activities where quickly creating a citation without the need for workstation is helpful.
Some of the benefits of using E-Citation include:
- Field auto-population by scanning driver’s licenses and registrations with 2D barcodes.
- Auto-fill data such as officer and agency using auto-fill profiles based on user login.
- Field validation protocols to ensure correct and complete data entry.
- Report and citation template customization to match agency and state requirements.
- Mobile printing for easy to read hard copies and uniform presentation.
- Secure electronic submission of data to agency or data repository.
- GPS link to automatically load location data for each traffic stop into the citation.
- Customized report creation from data collected, including daily activity logs for each officer.
In addition to streamlining the citation creation process, DataWorks Plus’ E-Citation also enhances an agency’s records management processes. Instead of an officer having to submit paper copies at the end of a patrol shift, all citations can automatically be submitted electronically to an agency’s record systems or data repository. This also allows users to create reports, gather statistics, and view daily activity logs for each officer. If the agency implements a GPS link with E-Citation mobile devices, location data can also be loaded automatically into each citation. This would allow users to track citation trends and better manage patrol routes, locations, and hotspots. Reports can be custom configured by administrators at any time to meet an agency’s specific needs.
E-Citation can operate even when not connected to a network. Once you log into the device your user name and password will be verified. All associated attributes for your user will be stored locally on the device including authentication for local verification and a batch of unique transaction numbers. This then allows the device to be used offline. Any citations created while not connected to the network will automatically be transmitted to the agency once the device is online.
E-Citation is rapidly becoming the new standard for citation creation and submission. With E-Citation, agencies will not only issue and manage citations more quickly and efficiently than ever before, but will increase public safety as well.
